NFC chip demand climbs NXP and Broadcom to seize market opportunities

NFC chip demand will rise significantly. With the support of global telecommunications providers, mobile payment service providers and operating system developers, mobile payment platforms and terminal devices supporting NFC technology are entering a rapid growth period, thus detonating a large number of chip demands, attracting NXP, Broadcom and Qualcomm Atheros Strive to seize market opportunities.

In 2013, the demand for NFC chips is expected to rise significantly. The main driving factors in addition to the mature Google Wallet service (Figure 1), the three major North American telecommunications providers, ISIS mobile payment (Mobile Payment) service providers, and China Unicom are all committed to building a mobile payment platform, which is also an NFC hardware and software ecosystem The development of China's economy has greatly increased.

Coupled with the related companies in Japan, South Korea, Western Europe and Canada have also begun to build a contactless payment service infrastructure, which will further stimulate the demand for NFC terminal application equipment, and market penetration will skyrocket.

In addition, the NFC Forum has also recently released the latest NFC Controller Interface (NCI) agreement, adding new NFC interoperability testing specifications, thereby greatly improving the compatibility between different NFC chips and systems; currently, including Google and Microsoft (Microsoft ) Both have stated that they are in a similar position. In addition to the Android 4.2 version first supporting the NCI standard, the Windows 8 operating system is also planned to support the specification in 2013.

Obviously, the world's major telecommunications providers and two major heavyweight mobile platform suppliers have successively joined the ranks of NFC technology and application promotion, which is expected to attract more chip, mobile phone and platform service providers to follow up.

Android / Win 8 supports NCI NFC commercial development

Nichi Forum Chairman Koichi Tagawa emphasized that the NCI agreement clearly defines the specifications of the signal communication interface between the NFC chip and the central processing unit (CPU), and also develops basic product function and compatibility test specifications, which not only helps chip manufacturers invest heavily in design standards NFC controller; it can also simplify the complexity of developing NFC products for mobile device brand manufacturers, eliminating the need to develop specific control interfaces for various NFC chips or application devices, thereby reducing system costs and speeding up the time to market.

Figure 2 Jiang Bo, senior business development manager at NXP, said that in addition to telecommunications companies, public transportation and banking companies are also actively developing related application services, so 2013 will be the first year of the NFC market to take off.

Jiang Bo (NXP) senior business development manager Jiang Bo (Figure 2) said that the key to the popularization of NFC applications lies in the ecosystem, including chip-side, terminal mobile devices, and server-side software and hardware platforms must be synchronously strong; therefore, the NFC Forum Continuously strengthen the NFC function and compatibility test specifications, accelerate the output of chips and terminal devices, and further attract telecom operators, transportation and gold flow service providers to join the ranks of NFC service promotion.

At this stage, both Android and Windows mobile operating systems have announced that they will support the NCI standard to assist their platform authorized customers to develop NFC mobile phones, tablets or laptop devices.

This POWER Bank possesses a lithium ion battery at its core, which takes up to five hours to be completely charged. As for the output charging speed, it stands at a thousand milliamp hours per hour.
The input port is a micro USB, while the output port is in the form of a single USB. There are two lights on display, for the purpose of indicating the levels of charge. This power bank can be used up to or more than 500 full cycles. It is compatible with several commonly used gadgets such as iPhone, iPod, mobile phones, and even digital cameras. Basically, it fits well with any device that has a USB interface.
