Google's new Brillo IoT operating system fully supports the MIPS CPU architecture

November 6, 2015 — ImaginaTIon Technologies announced that in the new Brillo operating system developed by Google for IoT applications, the MIPS CPU architecture is one of the main CPU architectures with full support.

Brillo is a free, open, embedded operating system based on Android that connects IoT devices in a seamless and intuitive way. Since MIPS is one of the three CPU architectures officially supported by Android, Brillo naturally provides support for MIPS. MIPS CPUs are now widely used in consumer, industrial, automotive, and other IoT devices. With an extremely efficient, streamlined design and multi-domain OmniShieldTM technology, MIPS CPUs are ideal for these applications.

As part of the Brillo project, ImaginaTIon's upcoming Creator Ci41 development board has been selected by Google as the entry platform for Brillo developers. The Ci41 is a derivative of the upcoming Creator Ci40 development board that has been optimized for Brillo support. The entry board for Ci41 is the gold standard for launching Brillo development work and will include the Brillo reference design application.
