When repairing, it's important to identify the type of fault—whether it's related to the circuit, gas path, or mechanical parts—and focus on narrowing down the issue to reduce unnecessary work and repair costs.

To begin diagnosing a problem, start by gathering information about the instrument, such as its model, manufacturing date, manufacturer, operating principle, and circuit layout. This information can usually be found on the nameplate or in the user manual. The manual is an essential reference, providing details on the instrument's principles, functions, technical specifications, operation procedures, and safety precautions. Some manuals also include basic troubleshooting guides, circuit diagrams, component placements, and special data. It's crucial for the operator to listen carefully to the reported symptoms and understand when the issue first appeared. If possible, recreate the problem and document its behavior to aid in the repair process.
