Discussion on Grounding Problems in LED Landscape Lighting System

With the development of the economy, urban night lighting has been paid more and more attention, and the level of urban night lighting has been continuously improved. From the previous pursuit of lighting to the pursuit of beauty, the methods from general light source to lighting have become increasingly diversified and intelligent.

In terms of landscape lighting, LED has a more unique advantage, and it is convinced that LED landscape lighting will develop rapidly in the direction of art, intelligence and flexibility. The use of advanced technologies such as LEDs has made the night sky of our cities more and more beautiful.

The economic benefits and social benefits brought by the LED landscape night scene are very obvious, and the image of the outside tree can be gathered inside. Since the construction of LED night lights, many cities have promoted the development of urban night sightseeing, leisure and entertainment, and shopping consumption. These cities are very popular at night, and some stores extend the night hours for this. The economic income of transportation, accommodation, catering, entertainment and other industries has greatly increased, which has boosted the overall economic benefits of the city. Landscape lighting can attract more Chinese and foreign businessmen to invest, improve the visibility of the city, and increase the pride of the citizens. The huge tourism economy brought by tourists has made great contributions to the prosperity of the city's night economy and promoted the development of the city's comprehensive economy.

However, because the LED landscape lighting system is usually installed on high-rise buildings, the high-rise buildings are frequented by direct lightning strikes and side-striking mines. The so-called direct lightning strikes are directly hit on the roof, and the side impacts are from the side, because the general buildings are relatively high. The LED landscape light is completely installed on the side of the building. The lightning protection belt on the top floor cannot prevent side lightning. Therefore, the lightning strike on the side is the key protection target of the LED landscape light. If it is not done well, the lighter damages the equipment and the system is heavy. When the lightning strikes directly on the landscape lights on the building, the powerful lightning current causes the building lights to burn or explode, causing damage to the building itself or personal injury or death. If there is flammable material nearby, it is more likely to cause a fire. Therefore, the lightning protection grounding of LED landscape lights has to be taken seriously. In addition, there is the danger of inductive lightning, especially for LED landscape lighting systems, because the internal resistance is large, the inductive lightning is easy to damage electronic equipment. In addition to lightning protection grounding, there is also power supply grounding. Since China currently adopts the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard, the grounding has a unified name. The LED landscape lighting system is used as an electronic device. The DC grounding and shielding grounding are also regulated. This article will make a unified discussion for everyone to criticize and correct.

Grounding concept:

The grounding problem directly involves whether the electronic equipment is normal or not. It is related to the safety of the personnel. The previous grounding method is called a variety of methods, such as AC grounding, DC grounding, shield grounding, anti-static grounding, protective grounding, signal grounding, PE grounding, etc. Names such as confluence grounding, anti-corrosion grounding, working grounding, logic grounding, lightning protection grounding, power grounding, safety grounding, and independent grounding, joint grounding, repeated grounding, common grounding, and integrated grounding. For grounding, whether it is IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), ITU (International Telecommunications Union) or IEEE (International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), there are some different descriptions of grounding. China's national standards: "Electronic Information System Computer Room Design Specification" GB50174-2008; "Building Lightning Protection Design Code" GB50057-2010; "Building Electronic Information System Lightning Protection Technical Specification" GB50343-2004; "Electronic Information System Room Construction and acceptance specifications GB50462-2008; "Low-voltage power distribution design specification" GB50462-2009; "Construction and building group integrated wiring system engineering design specification" GB 50311-2007; "Intelligent building engineering quality acceptance specification" GB50339-2003; A series of definitions have been made for grounding, and some concepts of grounding have been standardized.
