Huawei enters US wireless carrier's 4G network for final competition

News on April 5, according to reports, sources revealed that the Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei Technologies has entered the final bidding stage of the 4G network construction contract of Cellular, the sixth largest wireless operator in the United States. In addition, Huawei also stated that it is negotiating with the US federal, state and local governments to provide wireless technology for the construction of the first national public safety network in the United States.

So far, Huawei's agreement in North America has only involved small wireless operators such as Clearwire and Cox Communications. In contrast, Huawei has won contracts from companies such as British Telecom in Europe. Sources say Cellular will decide who to give the contract to in the next few weeks. Other companies that entered the final bid include Ericsson and Alcatel-Lucent.

Cellular has operations in 26 states in the United States, with more than 6 million users. The Chicago-based company is a subsidiary of Telephone & Data Systems. The company plans to launch its own 4G network (based on LTE technology) later this year. A Cellular spokesman said the company is still evaluating its LTE test results and has not yet selected a supplier.
