Bosch introduces the smallest size high performance air pressure sensor at the 2017 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES)
Bosch Sensortec has unveiled the smallest and most advanced air pressure sensor in its product lineup. The BMP380 is compact, measuring just 2.0 × 2.0 × 0.75 mm³, making it ideal for integration into a wide range of devices. Designed to meet the growing demand for accurate environmental sensing in gaming, sports, health tracking, and navigation, this sensor offers exceptional performance whether used indoors or outdoors.
The BMP380 excels in applications such as drones, where it helps improve flight stability, landing accuracy, and simplifies steering. In wearables, it enhances calorie tracking by identifying elevation changes during activities like climbing stairs. For smartphones and tablets, it boosts the precision of indoor navigation and positioning, allowing users to better understand their location within buildings and improving GPS accuracy.
With an impressive range of 300 hPa to 1250 hPa, the BMP380 delivers high accuracy—±0.06 hPa at 25°C–40°C and ±0.5 hPa at 0°C–65°C. Its internal FIFO memory and interrupt functions make data handling easier, while its ultra-low power consumption of only 2.7 μA/Hz ensures efficient operation.
The BMP380 also features a new "Advanced Porous Silicon Film" (APSM) process, developed through over a decade of expertise in MEMS technology. Bosch remains a leading supplier of pressure sensors, with millions of units deployed globally.
