The project is called The Bay Lights and the designer is Leo Villareal. The start of the project can be traced back to September 2012. The entire dynamic light project spans 2.8km and the height is 152m. The project will run for two years. The bridge will be equipped with 25,000 white LED lights, each of which can be controlled by the process. The combination is a variety of complex performance effects. During the construction process, those who have undergone special training are required to fill the 300 iron locks of the bridge with LED lights at such a height.
Leo Villareal uses its own software to control each LED light to produce a variety of fantastic dynamic effects. Villareal previously worked on design for museums and public exhibits in New York, Washington, and Istanbul, Turkey. He said, “Many bridges are equipped with lights, but none of them are like the Bay Bridge. The brightness of these LED lights. The 255 levels are adjustable, I will arrange them all, so that they can better integrate into the environment here."
From March 5 this year, every LED light in The Bay Lights project and its assembly will start to flash every night, affecting 50 million people in the San Francisco Bay Area.
