Dongxu Optoelectronics produced a killer new product "Super Light", which was praised by experts.
Following the release of the world's first graphene-based lithium-ion battery product, "Alken," last year, Dongxu Optoelectronics once again made headlines at the 2017 China International Graphene Innovation Conference on September 24. This time, they unveiled a new product: the "Ultra-thin Lights" series, a graphene-cooled high-power LED lighting solution that stunned the industry. During the event, the company also announced its plan to invest one billion yuan in Mudanjiang City for a smart manufacturing and smart city operation and maintenance project focused on graphene-based high-power LED lighting modules. Additionally, they revealed plans to collaborate with Zhongxing Carat, a subsidiary of ZTE Corporation, leveraging the graphene heat-dissipating LED street light as a platform for the LoRa IoT market based on the China LoRa application alliance standards.
"The 'Super-light' technology has high barriers, and there is no similar technology currently available in the market," said Dr. Chen Wei, founder of Alum Technology, a subsidiary of Dongxu Optoelectronics, during the product launch.
The "Ultra-pole Lamp" is based on a breakthrough in graphene-based reversible liquid crystal phase change material (RLCP) technology, which enhances heat dissipation and heat conduction. The built-in lighting module is 3/4 smaller than traditional LED modules, weighs 1/3 less, and offers over 20% higher light efficiency and a 20–30% improvement in power-saving performance. Compared to traditional sodium lamps, it achieves more than 80% energy savings. During a live demonstration, the comparison between sodium lamps, traditional LED lights, and the graphene-based high-power LED lamps showed that Dongxu’s "Super-light" products offer greater brightness and more uniform light distribution.
Chen Wei noted that to meet diverse needs, the company has developed a graphene heat-dissipating high-power LED yellow light that mimics the traditional sodium lamp's color spectrum. This feature is currently unique in China, with only Dongxu Optoelectronics capable of mass production. The company has already deployed this full-spectrum yellow light, high-efficiency graphene heat-dissipating LED module in Daqing City’s street lighting renovation project.
According to reports, the company has completed the upgrade of 200,000 graphene heat-dissipating high-power LED street lamps, with model projects launched in Beijing, Heilongjiang, Hunan, Zhejiang, and Hainan. The Tongzhou District Streetlight Reconstruction Project in Beijing has become a national benchmark.
"We position the 'Ultra-pole' as a management platform for the entire smart city, which is expected to reach a scale of one trillion yuan," said Chen Wei.
The "Ultra-pole Lamp" features a modular design with multiple common interfaces, allowing integration of various technologies such as intelligent lighting, Wi-Fi hotspots, environmental monitoring, security, road surveillance, information display, and emergency visual alarms. This makes urban road lighting reach a "smart and connected" state.
Moreover, the "Super-light" is expected to create industrial synergy with the company's new energy vehicle business. Chen Wei mentioned that the company has developed a range of products, including graphene heat-dissipating high-power lamps and car travel lights. At the press conference, they showcased the "Graphene Smart LED Car Lights," which can be interconnected with smart street lights to build an integrated smart city ecosystem.
