Dongxu Optoelectronics produced a killer new product "Super Light", which was praised by experts.
Following the release of the world's first graphene-based lithium-ion battery product, "Alken," last year, Dongxu Optoelectronics made another major announcement at the 2017 China International Graphene Innovation Conference on September 24. This time, they unveiled a new product line: the "Ultra-thin Lights" – a series of high-power LED lighting solutions featuring advanced graphene cooling technology. The company also revealed plans to invest 1 billion yuan in Mudanjiang City for a smart manufacturing and city operation and maintenance project focused on graphene-based high-power LED modules. Additionally, Dongxu announced collaboration with Zhongxing Carat, a subsidiary of ZTE Corporation, leveraging graphene heat-dissipating LED street lights as a platform for LoRa IoT applications based on the China LoRa application alliance standards.
"The 'Super-light' technology has high barriers, and no similar products are currently available in the market," said Dr. Chen Wei, founder of Alum Technology, a subsidiary of Dongxu Optoelectronics, during the product launch.
The "Ultra-pole Lamp" is built on breakthroughs in graphene-based reversible liquid crystal phase change material (RLCP) technology, offering superior heat dissipation and conduction. Compared to traditional LED modules, the built-in lighting module is 3/4 smaller, weighs 1/3 less, and delivers over 20% higher light efficiency and a 20-30% improvement in power savings. When compared to traditional sodium lamps, it achieves more than 80% energy savings. During a live demonstration, the comparison between sodium lamps, traditional LED lamps, and the graphene-cooled high-power LED lamps showed that Dongxu’s "Super-light" products offer greater brightness and more uniform light distribution.
Chen Wei added that to meet diverse needs, Dongxu has developed a graphene heat-dissipating high-power LED yellow light that mimics the color spectrum of traditional sodium lamps. This technology is currently unique in China, and only Dongxu can mass-produce it. The company has already applied this full-spectrum yellow light, high-efficiency graphene heat-dissipating LED module in the street lighting renovation project in Daqing City.
According to reports, Dongxu has completed the upgrade of 200,000 graphene heat-dissipating high-power LED street lamps and has launched model projects in Beijing, Heilongjiang, Hunan, Zhejiang, and Hainan. Notably, the Tongzhou District Streetlight Reconstruction Project in Beijing has become a national benchmark.
"We have positioned the 'Ultrapole' as a management platform for the entire smart city, and we expect it to reach a scale of one trillion yuan," Chen Wei stated.
The "Ultrapole Lamp" features a modular design with multiple common interfaces, allowing integration of various technologies such as intelligent lighting, Wi-Fi hotspots, environmental monitoring, security systems, road surveillance, information display, and emergency visual alarms. This transforms urban road lighting into a "smart" system.
Furthermore, "Super Light" is expected to create industrial synergy with the company’s new energy vehicle business. Dongxu has developed a range of products, including graphene heat-dissipating high-power lamps and car travel lights. At the press conference, the company showcased "Graphene Smart LED Car Lights," which can connect with smart street lights to support the development of a connected smart city.
