From July 19th to 21st, 2017, the 12th China International Die Casting Conference and Exhibition (CHINADIECASTING2017) was grandly held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center. This event showcased the cutting-edge die casting equipment, processes, and technologies of the industry.
With the growing emphasis on energy conservation and emission reduction worldwide, lightweight construction has become essential for achieving these goals. Manufacturers are focusing on balancing vehicle weight with crash safety and structural integrity. Lightweight die-cast structural components have emerged as a key area of interest within the automotive industry.
During CHINADIECASTING2017, Guangzhou Dezhi Metal Products Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Swiss DGS Group in China, stood out as the first domestic die-casting company to mass-produce automotive structural parts. Their high-quality magnesium die-casting components and superior craftsmanship captured significant attention.
As an established European die-casting company with nearly a century of experience, Guangzhou Dezhi has thrived by prioritizing customer satisfaction and technological advancement. Guangzhou Dezhi's approach to automotive die casting involves three key strengths: innovative mold design for cost-effective production, advanced high-vacuum die casting techniques, and comprehensive machining and assembly services. These capabilities enable the company to deliver complete solutions to its clients.
The company has also made strides in automation and digitalization, introducing an advanced electronic information management system to monitor and trace the production of structural parts. This move underscores their commitment to maintaining quality and efficiency.
Established in 2007 in Guangzhou, Guangzhou Dezhi serves as DGS Group's wholly-owned subsidiary in China. The decision to set up a plant here was driven by the need to cater to local automotive giants like Volkswagen, DaimlerChrysler, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. By 2013, DGS had significantly invested in expanding its Chinese operations, including capacity building and technological upgrades.
Over the past few years, Guangzhou Dezhi has earned recognition for its exceptional performance, securing Class A supplier status with several clients. Notable projects include supplying components for Beijing Benz and FAW Audi, with the latter’s project slated for mass production in early 2018.
Participating in the die-casting exhibition allowed Guangzhou Dezhi to showcase its Swiss heritage and global expertise. "We aim to introduce Swiss-quality die castings and solutions to Chinese markets," said Mr. Song. "This exhibition helps us highlight DGS Group’s capabilities and enhances our brand visibility."
Innovation remains central to Guangzhou Dezhi’s success. The company established a mold design and manufacturing department in 2013, becoming the first domestic European-American die-casting firm capable of local mold production. Additionally, they are establishing a research and development center, reflecting their dedication to staying ahead in automotive die casting.
Looking ahead, Mr. Song envisions a future where lightweight materials like aluminum and magnesium alloys dominate automotive design. "The shift toward lighter materials, particularly aluminum-magnesium alloys, will continue to drive innovation in areas such as structural components, chassis, and battery enclosures," he remarked.
