Barclays CEO Qin Yu: Future logistics is technology-driven

Barter aims to change this by making logistics transparent, calculating optimal routes, and predicting demand more accurately.
Barter has focused on three key areas: transparency, calculation, and forecasting. Transparency ensures that every element of logistics—people, vehicles, and cargo—are visible throughout the process. Calculation involves complex algorithms to optimize dispatching and scheduling, tasks far more intricate than those in the travel industry due to the variability of goods. Forecasting helps anticipate demand patterns based on upstream production and sales data, ensuring efficient preparation and high customer satisfaction.
During the event, Qin You shared several examples of Barter's work. For instance, Barter serves as China's largest provider of shared bicycle distribution services and has played a crucial role in managing the surge of deliveries during Jingdong's 618 shopping festival. Additionally, Barter has helped major appliance brands like Fangtai optimize their logistics networks by strategically placing sub-warehouses across cities like Hangzhou.
Another notable project involved supporting the G20 Summit in Hangzhou last year. As the sole designated carrier, Barter provided secure and timely logistics solutions, adhering to stringent anti-terrorism measures and time-sensitive requirements. This event showcased Barter's capabilities in handling high-stakes logistics operations, leveraging advanced technologies to ensure reliability and efficiency.
